How can you tell whether your idea for a startup is worth pursuing? In this 3 minute video, I share three tips based on my own experience.

Do you have other tips to add or your own story to tell? Please do so in the comments?

Hi Ross!

This was very helpful, I need to work more on 1 & 2, but definitely fulfilling the 3 (especially the pleading) I agree, that when friends give quality feedback both pro/cons it’s really helpful. I’ve found that most friend naturally want to say great idea! The one’s who do poke holes and ask questions made me think deeper and many times the sparred better ideas or created more efficient processes.

For me, point number 3 is the most important.

In my experience, the majority of people who fall over early on are the ones that get over excited and don’t take the time to disagree with themselves.

Having a co-founder often helps to ground an idea.

Brett – Absolutely true. Those friends who are not afraid to provide meaningful constructive criticism are the most valuable soundboards for ideas.

Armin – yes, having a co-founder often helps. Tomorrow’s video is about finding the right co-founder. :)
